Far Out Recordings’ premier jazzman Sean Khan earned a heap of acclaim with his latest album Muriel, which featured the likes of Cinematic Orchestra’s Heidi Vogel, London soul royalty Omar, and Brazilian singing sensation Sabrina Malheiros. Khan’s esteemed career has seen him play a focal part of the broken beat movement with his SK Radicals outfit and has more recently played with the likes of Peter King and has since been in Brazil recording a new album with the legendary Hermeto Pascoal. Sean and his extremely talented band, with guest vocals from Heidi Vogel, will go everywhere from deep brooding bop, to fierce Latinspired groove music.
Marc Mac, who when coupled with Dego forms the ever-pioneering 4Hero has given many a great service to the Far Out stamp, with a host of some of the label’s most treasured remixes to his name. He’s a formidable force with a set of turntables at his hands with a rich and eclectic knowledge of the huge range of influences that make 4Hero what they are.
Ben Hauke’s live sets dart from rhythm to rhythm, swaggering across hip-hop, jazz, house and even garage, complimented by an otherworldly realm of sound & colour. His ear for finding great samples and layering them into multifaceted grooves has caught the ears of the likes of Kai Alce, Alexander Nut, Osunlade & Lefto.
A Far Out showcase couldn’t be complete without label boss Joe Davis’ formidable record crate of Brazilian, Jazz, Latin, African and all sorts of otherworldly obscurities.
