A ten-piece band hailing from Houston, Texas, The Suffers are redefining the sound of gulf coast soul, bringing together classic american soul with a dose of rock & roll.

The band’s award-winning live show relentlessly forces people onto the dance floor with high-energy cuts like “Gwan,” a sweaty, afrobeat-inspired song about getting down, and the uplifting, yearning soul of “Make Some Room.” In just a short time they’ve gone from small time venues in Texas to packing out shows across the world, playing alongside the likes of Alabama Shakes, Cat Power and The Wailers.

Support comes from Lakuta: With members hailing from Kenya, Tanzania, Ghana, Malaysia, Spain and the UK, they are a truly global mix of musicians who draw on a deep love of jazz, funk, soul and world music to create a fierce, driving sound. Signed to Tru Thoughts, the ensemble reference a wide range of genres in their writing, blending traditional instruments with a modern, hard-hitting sound. Their upcoming album Brothers & Sisters , made in collaboration with renowned producer Nick Faber, is set for release in Summer 2016.
