Ata Kak, the Ghanaian artist behind the cult classic Obaa Sima, created a singular blend of highlife, hip-hop and funk in the early 90s that went unnoticed for decades.
Lost to obscurity, Obaa Sima was rediscovered in 2002 by music explorer Brian Shimkovitz, whose discovery led to the creation of Awesome Tapes From Africa and the album’s 2015 reissue.
The release sparked a global cult following, bringing Ata Kak back into the spotlight and introducing a new generation to his joyful, genre-defying sound. Now, he brings that same infectious energy to our stage.
